Control Solutions (CSI), parent company of Quali-Pro, promoted Nicholas Strain to business director for the Quali-Pro brand, effective March 12. Strain joined the turf group in February 2013 as the company’s Midwest area sales manager.

“Nick has fully exhibited the skills and drive to move the turf group forward into the future” said Curtis Clark, executive vice president.

Additionally, Jeremy Moore has been promoted to key accounts manager for the Quali-Pro group after seven years with CSI.

“Jeremy’s passion for this position is second to none” said Clark. “I look forward to watching both of you take the ball and run with it.”

Paul Giordano, Ph.D.

Environmental Science, a business unit of the Crop Science division of Bayer, added Paul Giordano, Ph.D., to the Bayer Green Solutions Team. In this role, Giordano will serve customers in the Northeast.

“Bayer is dedicated not only to providing best-in-class innovations, but also to offering the technical knowledge and agronomic expertise that help turf managers maximize the health and quality of their turf,” said Laurence Mudge, Bayer Green Solutions Team manager. “Paul’s expertise and proven technical skills will be a welcome and invaluable asset to Bayer customers.”

Giordano joined the Bayer team in 2014, serving as technical services representative for Bayer Environmental Science Canada. In that role, Giordano was responsible for the coordination and execution of research trials across business segments, competitive surveillance and innovation consultation.

He is a member of several industry organizations, including Ontario Turfgrass Research Foundation board of directors, U.S> Golf Association, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America and Soil Science Society of America.

Massey Services promoted Barry Neveras to senior director of purchasing. In his new role, Neveras will be responsible for all purchasing functions for the organization.

Prior to his promotion, Neveras served as director of purchasing where he managed product ordering for service centers in seven states. Neveras joined Massey Services in 2003 as a senior manager trainee and has held various roles within the company—including general manager, division manager and regional manager—before joining the purchasing department in 2010.

“Barry has been an instrumental team member in operations and purchasing for many years and has demonstrated strong leadership and dedication,” said Tony Massey, president of Massey Services. “He is committed to providing exceptional service to our team members and in building strong relationships with our vendors.”

Neveras is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and holds a degree in resource management.

Davey Resource Group (DRG), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Davey Tree Expert Co., promoted Philip Hanna to area manager of DRG’s Massachusetts region.

Hanna began his career with DRG in 2011. He has been involved with Asian Longhorned Beetle programs since his start with DRG, while also managing several projects analyzing tree condition and risk along utility rights-of-way.

“Philip is a hard worker and always puts our clients first,” said Ken Joehlin, vice president and general manager, environmental consulting and business development for Davey Resource Group. “I know he will carry that work ethic into the challenge of this new position, and I look forward to seeing the new opportunities he brings to the table.”

Hanna holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental and conservation biology and a master’s degree in forest ecology from Clark University. He is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist and a 2015 graduate of the Davey Institute of Tree Sciences, the company’s flagship training program.

Additionally, DRG promoted Dave Benninger to area manager of the Cincinnati region.

Benninger joined DRG in 2013 as an inventory arborist. Since then he has worked as a crew leader, field supervisor and assistant project manager.

“Dave’s experience over the last five years leaves him well-prepared for this new position,” said Joe Gregory, regional operations manager for Davey Resource Group. “He’s constantly working to better himself professionally, and I know he will do the same when it comes to making sure our Cincinnati clients receive nothing but the best service.”

Benninger holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Hiram College. He is an ISA Certified Arborist, a certified pest applicator and a 2018 graduate of the Davey Institute of Tree Sciences.
