People on the Move: LandOpt appoints new president; new hires and promotions from Select Source, Ruppert

LandOpt, a provider of landscape business tools, named Don Evans president of the company. Evans brings diverse experience, beginning his career as a corporate lawyer. He has a bachelor’s in international affairs and economics from George Washington University and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia. Evans replaces former CEO Tim Smith, who stepped down in August after 12 years with LandOpt.

Select Source, a distributor of branded and generic chemicals and specialty products for turf and related markets, added Cody Freeman as the Midwest territory manager. Freeman’s green industry career began as an intern at Iowa State University’s turf operation; he has since worked for the Denver Broncos, GolfEnviro Systems and Green King Turf. His experience will help him provide customers with solutions to issues on turf fields and golf courses, the company said.

Ruppert Landscape promoted four employees to associate branch manager in its landscape management division.

  • Drew Dummann was promoted from area manager to associate branch manager at the Raleigh, N.C., branch. Dummann has been with Ruppert for 10 years, first working in the landscape construction division. He holds a bachelor’s in landscape architecture from The Ohio State University.
  • Rob Groves was promoted from enhancement manager to associate branch manager at the Gainesville, Va., branch. He’s been with the company since 2006 and holds an associate of applied science degree in landscape and nursery operations from the Pennsylvania College of Technology.
  • Tom Flint was promoted from area manager to associate branch manager at the Laytonsville, Md., branch. He has more than 30 years of experience in the industry and has been with Ruppert for four years. He attended the Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
  • Jenna Hicks was promoted from area manager to associate branch manager at the Laytonsville, Md., branch. She joined Ruppert in 2014 and took home the landscape management division’s award for top performer in enhancement sales in August. She previously garnered landscape experience at Walt Disney World and McHale Landscape Design and holds a bachelor’s in Pennsylvania State University.
