McKay launches event for lighting ops staff

|

mckay-lighting-summitAt The Lighting Summit 2017, held Jan. 18-19 in Omaha, Neb., McKay Landscape Lighting Owner Jerry McKay announced a new educational and networking event geared toward a landscape lighting operation’s top field employee or manager.

The Lighting Summit Base Camp, which will be held March 8 in Omaha, Neb., will focus on operational training. The event will be located at McKay Landscape Lighting’s facilities, and attendees will walk through hands-on stations led by McKay’s top installation crew chief.

The event is inspired by The Lighting Summit, which McKay has hosted for four years and is geared toward landscape lighting firm owners.

“For that group, a bunch of business owners who do lighting, sometimes it can be lonely when you’re in different regions and you don’t really have any camaraderie in the field,” McKay said. “I think it can be the same way for these guys’ top field employee. At this event, all of a sudden that employee can be sitting around a dozen guys that do exactly what they do.”

The agenda, which the company said is geared toward improving daily operations, includes:

  • Installation techniques;
  • Executing service;
  • Developing strong crews;
  • Record keeping;
  • Office communication; and
  • Customer service.

“The conversation is completely different,” McKay said. “The goal is for these guys to come out of it with some contemporaries that they can call and communicate with on the install level.”

The event costs $799 per attendee. It’s limited to one business per geographic area to ensure a noncompetitive environment, the company said. To register, visit the company’s website.
