Jeffrey Scott created a new peer group specifically for irrigation service contractors, the Irrigation Leaders Peer Group. The new group held its third meeting in London, Ontario, Aug. 2-4 and was hosted by Blue Jay Irrigation.
The group of irrigation contractors met to benchmark financials, share proven practices and experience a deep-dive, behind-the-scenes tour of the host member’s facilities and leadership team.
“The meeting was very encouraging, challenging and motivating,” said Trevor Lively, general manager of Blue Jay Irrigation. “We have a great group who care about each other and hold each other accountable. They continually push me and one another to develop and grow as business owners.”
Members of this Irrigation Leaders peer group are invited to join based on having a minimum of $1 million in irrigation service, and must also be performing openings and closings.
“Members are challenged to become better leaders, more financially savvy, more strategic in their growth, and to take bold calculated actions in order to achieve breakthrough results,” said Jeffrey Scott, the group leader.
Companies sent the following representatives to the meeting in Ontario:
- CEO Bruce Lively and General Manager Trevor Lively from Blue Jay Irrigation in London, Ontario;
- Harry Hutten, president of Select Sprinklers in Toronto;
- Ryan Jardine, owner of Quality Irrigation in Omaha, Neb.;
- Blair List, president of Rain 1 in Columbus, Ohio;
- Aaron Katerberg, founder of Grapids Irrigation, Grand Rapids, Mich.;
- Dave Firman, president of Firman Irrigation in Petosky, Mich.; and
- Ethan Dykstra, Division Manager for A+ Lawn and Landscape in Des Moines, Iowa.
These meetings are arranged and lead by Jeffrey Scott, who runs The Leader’s Edge, an international peer group network for landscape and lawn contractors.
