Irrigation Association launches new award program

The Irrigation Association (IA) is launching a new award to recognize innovative irrigation projects.

The Vanguard Award will honor a team of individuals, companies, organizations or other group entities that have executed an innovative installation project in the irrigation industry. Winners of this award will be recognized during the general session of the 2017 Irrigation Show and Education Conference in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 6–10.

This new award will help expand the association’s public affairs program by demonstrating how its member companies have been successful in improving water efficiency, increasing yield and/or decreasing energy use, IA said.

“This new recognition program will add breadth to our awards program and give the opportunity to highlight the great work of IA’s member companies,” said Diane Toth, secretary and treasurer of Aqua-Lawn and chair of the IA Awards and Honors Committee. “I know there are a lot of complex projects going on in both the agriculture and turf-landscape segments. I hope that they all apply.”

Applicant teams for large-scale, integrated projects can be made up from a variety of organizations such as manufacturers, dealers, distributors, contractors, consultants, end users, governments and/or universities.

Applications will be accepted through June 30. Nominations will be reviewed by the IA Awards and Honors Committee, and proposed award winners will be submitted to the IA Board of Directors for final approval.
