February 2014 Web Extra: ‘How We SERV’

|

Landscape industry subcontracting guru Terry Delany of Fayetteville, Ark.-based GroundSERV, who was featured in the February 2014 “1-Minute Mentor” department, attributes part of his company’s success to its commitment to helping subcontractors (aka “strategic partners”) make money.

“The minute you start investing in (subcontractors), the profit will come naturally to you,” says Delany, whose business outsources all of its production to subcontractors. “That’s the biggest key.”

This mantra and others central to the company’s mission are spelled out in its “How We SERV” document, which lists the 10 mandates the company lives by. They are:

How We SERV

1. We are committed to the success of our Strategic Partners and The Network. We only win if they win.

2. We speak the truth, and don’t waste time getting there.

3. We acknowledge every client and colleague communication–email, phone or otherwise–within one hour during normal business hours.

4. We always ask–Is that the best we can do?

5. We listen to our clients’ needs and offer solutions quickly.

6. We are fun and easy to work with!

7. We always do what we say we will do, and only promise what we can deliver.

8. We embrace change, chaos and speed.

9. We will constantly innovate and disrupt the market. Being first at anything is painful…but not near as much as being second.

10. We think BIG. Nope…bigger. Nope…even bigger!
