Stihl partnered with Dream It. Do It. Virginia” to host the fifth annual Stihl Manufacturing Technology Summer Camp at its U.S. headquarters in Virginia Beach, Va. The four-day camp promotes modern manufacturing careers through technology-based projects. Selected by an essay application process, 35 high school students worked in teams to build “Escape Bots,” obstacle avoiding robots equipped with infrared sensors. Each member of the winning team received a scholarship of $1,000 from the Virginia Industry Foundation.

BioSafe Systems, a manufacturer of disease and pest control solutions, added a new production site in Coldwater, Mich. This location will also allow the company to manufacture, house and ship all of its peroxyacetic acid chemistries, according to BioSafe. The facility will open in 2017 and serve as a hub for the pick up and distribution of bulk peroxyacetic acid deliveries within the East and West North Central Divisions.

Toro sponsored the Wyland Foundation’s fourth annual Wyland National Art & Mural Challenge. Each year since partnering with Wyland in 2014, Toro has assembled calendars featuring the winning artwork. The calendars are used as a fundraising opportunity with all proceeds going toward enhancing the school’s water conservation activities and education. The release of the 2016-2017 calendar coincided with the Irrigation Association’s Smart Irrigation Month.
