Companies in the News: Massey named top place to work; Smart Rain wins award; John Deere dealerships recognized for achievements

The Orlando Business Journal (OBJ) named Massey Services one of central Florida’s “Best Places to Work.” This marks the eighth time the company has received this honor.

“It is truly an honor for Massey Services to be recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in central Florida,” said Massey Services Chairman and CEO Harvey L. Massey. “I’m very proud of all our team members and thank them for their dedication and commitment to providing quality service.”

Placement on the OBJ’s Best Places to Work list is the result of an anonymous online survey that is completed by Massey Services team members. The survey includes inquiries about teamwork, job satisfaction, benefits and other company characteristics or benefits.

Smart Rain, a smart irrigation controller technology business, won the Best of State Statue in the science and technology category. The Best of State awards recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses in Utah.

With the use of a 4G LTE connection, Smart Rain’s controller uses real-time weather data as well as predictive weather forecasts. Its interface and displays allow users to see past and future watering with an API from local weather stations.

In addition to the Best of State Statue, Smart Rain also won six medals in landscape engineering, software development, community development, smart buildings, entrepreneurship and energy and sustainability.

Five John Deere dealerships received awards in 2017 for outstanding sales of Commercial ZTrak and QuikTrak mowers. The five dealershipsAg-Pro, Everglades Equipment Group, James River Equipment, SunSouth and TriGreen Equipmentwere honored by the manufacturer to commemorate the achievement.

“We are proud to celebrate these dealers, as this achievement directly relates to the level of dedication they demonstrate for their customers,” said James Dutton, product marketing manager, commercial mowing equipment, John Deere. “At John Deere, we are proud of our dealers who constantly go above and beyond to provide professional landscape contractors with the support and service needed to keep their businesses running.”

With more than 60 years in the outdoor power equipment industry, Ag-Pro services customers from South Carolina to Texas.

Everglades Equipment Group, which assists customers in central and south Florida, has been recognized by John Deere for the second year in a row.

A full-service John Deere dealer since 1926, James River Equipment was recognized for the second straight year and now has 30 locations across Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

SunSouth, which has locations in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi, credits its success to its driven sales team as well. “Our sales team continued to push throughout 2017, and their hard work and commitment to customers is the reason we hit the sales mark,” said David R. Vines, COO, SunSouth.

With locations in Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi, TriGreen Equipment, is committed to each of its commercial customers. “We understand the challenges that our customers face, and when they pull up to our stores, we want to them to feel that TriGreen and John Deere are committed to being their partners,” said Richard Miller, corporate sales manager, retail & commercial, TriGreen Equipment. “Our staff has worked hard to ensure all of our customers, new and old, feel like they are supported by us. It is extremely rewarding to see everything come together.”

Business entrepreneur Wesley Arnold has purchased the rights to a Monster Tree Service territory in southern Alabama. Arnold was awarded the territory in June and aims to launch in September. Born and raised in Alabama, Arnold is a seasoned businessman with lifelong entrepreneurial ambitions.

“I am thrilled to be on board with Monster Tree Service,” said Arnold. “I’m looking forward to being my own boss and taking on the challenge of small business ownership. I’m excited to give back to my community through our wide array of services, including tree and limb removal, plant healthcare, tree maintenance and more.”
