John Deere recently commemorated the 20-year anniversary of its Turf Care manufacturing facility in Fuquay-Varina, N.C., with its employees, their families and the local community on the Turf Care Facility grounds. The company also honored 19 employees who have worked at the facility since the doors opened in 1997.

“Over the past 20 years, we’ve cultivated a team of professionals who take great pride in designing and manufacturing top quality products in the Turf Care facility,” said Siva Sundaresan, factory manager and global director for commercial mowing and golf equipment at John Deere.

The Davey Tree Expert Co. purchased about 170 acres of land across from its corporate headquarters in Kent, Ohio. Davey Chairman Karl Warnke said the property’s abundance of trees and green space, diverse topography and its proximity to the corporate headquarters provide ample opportunities for capability and facility expansion.

“A major part of our goal is to establish a science and learning center on the property and expand our capacity for technical research and specialized training,” Davey Chairman Karl Warnke said. He added that the property, to be known as the Davey East Campus, could also include additional office space for the company’s corporate functions. Davey’s current corporate campus, built in 1985, stands on approximately 35 acres of wooded property across the street.

Daedong Industrial Co. celebrated its 70th anniversary this year. In 1947, Sam-Man Kim, founded the company with his four brothers.

“The 70th anniversary marks Daedong Industrial’s unrivaled dedication to the innovation, investment and growth of our products and culture,” said J.S. Kim, chairman of Daedong-USA and vice chairman of Daedong Industrial Co. “Although we started in ironworks producing farming tools, the manufacture of our first engine established the basis for our modern agriculture industry. Seven decades later, we’ve built our legacy as a leader in global agriculture manufacturing.”

In other Daedong news, Kioti Tractor, a division of Daedong-USA, launched its First Responders ‘Shout Out’ social media promotion and video contest. The winner will receive a free Kioti Mechron 2200PS utility vehicle. Organizations interested in participating must create a video explaining who they are, their location, why they need a Mechron 2200PS and how it will be used if they win. The video should be less than three minutes in length. One submission will be counted per organization.

Once the video entry is submitted, voters can navigate through the gallery of submissions on Kioti’s Facebook page to cast their vote. Voting will close on Dec. 1 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.

Green Pest Solutions, a division of Green Lawn Fertilizing, retired its first pest truck and donated it to Cars for U.S. Troops.

“It is an honor to be able to donate our first pest truck to Cars for U.S. Troops,” President Matt Jesson said. “Their support of our veterans coming back from combat is something I could not be happier to contribute to.”
