In a bid to boost demand for propane, distributors are promoting the advantages of propane-powered lawn mowers. Such efforts could increase the market share for commercial propane mowers from 1 percent to 3 percent by 2016, according to the Propane Education and Research Council.
Ivan Giraldo, president of CleanScapes in Austin, Texas, cautioned that while the mowers last longer and have lower emissions than gasoline-powered counterparts, they also can cost up to 10 percent more.
