TruGreen enters irrigation market

TruGreenTruGreen will offer a irrigation maintenance service in 15 to 20 Eastern and Northern U.S. cities in 2016, The Commercial Appeal reported. The service is branded as TruGreen Sprinkler Repair and Maintenance, and the company calls the move a “test program.”

Brent Armstrong, the company’s vice president, told The Commercial Appeal it will hire 100 workers for the initial “test program,” and the company plans to extend the service throughout the nation the following year. He did not say how much revenue he expects the new service to produce.

This year, the company tested the sprinkler maintenance service in eight cities, including Little Rock, Ark.; Omaha, Neb.; St. Louis; and Orlando, Fla.

TruGreen, a nationwide lawn care service company based in Memphis, parted from ServiceMaster in 2014. This is one of the company’s first line expansions since the split.

The company has a network of 260 company-owned locations, 11,000 employees nationwide and a small number of franchisees. It ranked No. 2 on the 2015 LM150 list with $936 million in 2014 revenue.
