Toro signs deal for radio show on drought

|

toro_150Toro has signed with NBC Radio affiliate KCAA 1050 AM to host a weekly, one-hour show, addressing California’s drought. The show will be titled “The Water Zone” and is slated to launch June 25 at 6 p.m. PDT.

Toro’s Mike Baron and Rob Starr, who collectively have more than 50 years in the irrigation business, will host the show. The purpose of the show is to educate people about products and practices to use their outdoor water more efficiently, the latest irrigation technologies available, and state and regional water policies.

“This drought is a serious issue to all of us,” said Baron. “We want to make sure that folks are aware that removing turf is not the only option available to those who want to do their part in saving water. There are a multitude of options available that can make a big impact, and our goal is to share that information in a fun, yet informative way.”

“The Water Zone” will feature discussions on current water issues, statewide and locally, and one-on-one interviews with state lawmakers, water agencies, landscape architects, landscape contractors, distributors, homebuilders, commercial developers realtors and others affected by the drought.

Additionally, the show will focus on an “irrigation retrofit project of the week,” detailing how homeowners can identify irrigation problems that cause water waste and how to fix them. The listening audience will be able to call in to ask questions of either the show hosts or on-air guests. Listeners also will have a chance to win a completely updated irrigation system, including installation, that will help them save on outdoor water use.

KCAA 1050 AM reaches approximately 5 million people in Riverside, Calif., San Bernardino, Calif., and Orange County, Calif.
