Irrigation Association partners with radio show to expand educational training opportunities

irrigation_association_150The Irrigation Association (IA) is partnering with “The Water Zone” radio show to provide on-air educational training for irrigation and landscape professionals.

Training will be conducted quarterly by a rotating group of IA-certified irrigation specialists and will enable listeners to earn IA continuing education units. The first series of technical presentations, which airs April 27, will focus on irrigation hydraulics and basic system troubleshooting techniques.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with ‘The Water Zone’ to provide a platform for irrigation industry professionals to tap into additional learning opportunities,” said Clover Belluz, IA’s professional development director. “The programming being offered by this partnership provides another educational avenue as we strive to promote efficient irrigation.”

The award-winning radio show is sponsored by The Toro Co. It has featured notable federal, state and local governmental representatives, water agencies, educators, scientists, horticulturists and meteorologists.

“This is a first for our industry,” said Rob Starr, co-host of “The Water Zone.” “We are honored to partner with the Irrigation Association to provide a unique way to further educate professionals and the public about irrigation systems and proper landscape water management.”

The Water Zone broadcasts live Thursdays at 6 p.m. PDT on KCAA 1050 AM, 102.3 FM and 106.5 FM in Southern California. Outside of the listening area, the show can be accessed via UStream or at www.kcaaradio.com.
