Consultant Guido assaulted by landscape worker, recovering at home

Judy Guido

Longtime green industry consultant Judy Guido is recovering at home after being assaulted and seriously injured earlier this month.

She underwent surgery and spent time in the intensive care unit following the July 5 attack by a man hired to do landscaping work at her home, according to a report in the Ventura County Star. She was released last week.

Industry members were shocked to hear the news, and are sending her well wishes.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Judy,” said Sabeena Hickman, CEO of the National Association of Landscape Professionals. “She has a long road to recovery but she will be back in full force. I have no doubt.”

Guido, a former executive for ValleyCrest Cos. (now BrightView), LandCare USA and ServiceMaster, is chairwoman of consulting firm Guido & Associates. She works with landscape companies and suppliers to the market. She is the author of many articles for landscape professionals and a frequent presenter at industry conferences and trade shows.

“Judy has had a significant positive impact to many in the green industry,” said Barrett Ersek, founder and CEO of Holganix. “I am particularly grateful to know her and consider her a friend and a mentor. I am looking forward to spending time with Judy at a green industry event in the near future.”
